An experience for one and all to enjoy—from a midnight swim to a walk through the Kauri forest and viewing glow worms in the bush, it is all onsite and waiting for you.

Rare native birds are frequent visitors, and give a memorable dawn chorus. Night time visitors to listen out for are Moreporks and Kiwi.

Families will appreciate the safety and seclusion of the private beach with space to run. The perfect environment for all ages. Kids can try kayaking, learning to swim or exploring the sea life. Have fun fishing off the nearby wharf.

How much space for cars, camper vans and our boat and trailer?

There is plenty of parking space for vehicles and trailers.

How many people can stay at Parua Bay Cottage?

Up to seven people can stay in the cottage.

Can we pitch tents in the garden for extra children?

Yes! You can pitch tents next to the cottage or on the lawn by the beach.

Can I launch my boat from the beach?

Yes, boats can be launched from the beach – maximum length around 12 ft. Larger boats can be launched from the nearby public ramp at Paura Bay Marina, which is 1.5 km away. There is also a mooring in front of the cottage that is licensed for boats/yachts up to 30 ft.

Where is a good place for a family meal out?

The Parua Bay Tavern caters for families at reasonable prices.  Distance 15 minute walking or 2 minute drive.

What local activities do you recommend for families?

There are lots of great walks at Bream Head for different levels of fitness. Ocean beach has great surfing for the older kids and pristine sand for sand castles. Reotahi marine reserve is great for snorkeling. For a touch of wildness at the beach, visit Kauri Mountain beach, to see birdlife like migrating Godwits in the summer months.
